Reed Library will be hosting a series of open workshops via Zoom throughout the semester. Please consider encouraging your students to register for a workshop.

Library Research Skills for Undergraduates
This workshop will give you the tools you need to get started and advance your research papers and projects. From identifying your research needs to producing a bibliography and everything in between, this workshop will help you take your skills to the next level. 

  • In this workshop you will learn about:

    • Getting started with your research

    • Finding articles, books, and other library resources for your project

    • ILL account set-up & request

    • Evaluating resources

    • Importance of citations

Library Research Skills for Graduate Students

This workshop will help you learn how to formulate your research question, understand what information sources are needed to find answers, and design an effective search strategy for finding the appropriate resources available to you through Reed Library. Introduction to Zotero

Zotero is a free and open source software that enables you to organize your research, create bibliographies and insert citations or footnotes in your assignments. This workshop will introduce participants to the main functions of Zotero. Participants can watch the demonstration or follow along remotely to learn the basics of using this program.

Fake News, Disinformation, and Misinformation: Strategies for Critically Evaluating Media Sources

Disinformation and misinformation have had major impacts on both the personal and political. It has become increasingly difficult to distinguish fact from fiction, and most of us have been duped at some point. Students and history instructors were nearly equally likely to evaluate information on the Internet inaccurately, according to a Stanford University study. This workshop will teach you how to recognize "false news" and provide you the skills needed to analyze information more efficiently.
